Must Married Permanent Deacons abstain from having sex?

I came across this article on CatholicVote.org. An important issue. What do you think?

Church Law says Permanent Deacons, all clerics, are obliged to abstain from sex, notes Canonist Edward Peters

Ridiculous. If this is canon law, then I don't agree with it. It just this kind of crap that gives religion a bad name. There is nothing wrong with sex. I'm so tired of the topic of "sex" dominating anything to do with religion. Can the sex-obsessed religious right please get over its obsession with stopping people from having sex? It's ridiculous. Is this the goal of church officials, banalize the liturgy and peoples' sex life?

I am a traditional catholic but it is clear to me that the demand of lifelong celibacy is destroying the church. Only an idiot would try to extend it's poisionus influence.

"celibacy is destroying the church."

Bunk.

On the topic at hands, interesting catch by Mr Peters.
